This policy explains the "Subscriptions and Payment" section of our Terms of Use in more detail. Current plans and prices are always on our pricing page. Payments are processed by Stripe.
1. How billing works
- The free plan costs nothing and needs no card.
- Paid plans — the Content plan, the ATLAS add-on and team plans — are monthly subscriptions. You are charged when you subscribe and then on the same day each month until you cancel.
- One-time purchases, such as an ATLAS Top-up of extra tutor turns, are charged once and do not renew.
- Prices are in US dollars. Your bank may add its own currency-conversion or foreign-transaction fees.
- Access you receive through a partner, such as A2X, or through an invitation from your team is not billed to you by us.
2. Early-bird price
If you subscribed to the Content plan at the early-bird price of $9 a month, you keep that price for as long as your subscription stays active, including if we raise the price for new subscribers. If your subscription ends — because you cancelled or a payment could not be collected — and you subscribe again later, the price at that time applies.
3. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, without giving a reason, in Settings › Subscription (choose Cancel Subscription), or in the Stripe billing portal that Manage Subscription opens. On a team plan, the team's owner manages the subscription.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal. You are not charged again.
- You keep paid access until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that, your account moves to the free plan. Your account, progress and notes stay.
- If you change your mind before the period ends, choose Reactivate Subscription and nothing changes.
- If you plan to delete your account, cancel your subscription first, then delete the account in Settings › Security.
4. Refunds
Because you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period, we do not normally refund the unused part of a month. We do give refunds:
- when you were charged by mistake — for example a duplicate charge, a charge after you cancelled, or the wrong amount; and
- when the law where you live gives you a right to one — for example the right of consumers in the EU, EEA and UK to withdraw from a new online subscription within 14 days, in the way that law applies to digital services you have started using.
To ask for a refund, write to legal@educationpals.ai from the email address on your account, with the date and amount of the charge. We aim to reply within 5 business days. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method; your bank may take 5–10 business days to show them.
Anything else we consider case by case. Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under the consumer law of the country where you live.
5. What a refund or dispute changes
- A full refund of the current month ends paid access for that month, and your account moves to the free plan.
- A partial refund leaves your access as it is.
- If you dispute a charge with your bank (a chargeback), paid access is paused while the dispute is open. Please contact us first — it is usually faster.
- A refund or dispute of a payment that came from a referral cancels the reward for that referral.
6. Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, we let you know and Stripe tries again over the following days. You keep access while it does. If the payment still cannot be collected, the subscription ends and your account moves to the free plan. You can update your card at any time from Manage Subscription in Settings › Subscription.
7. Trials, invitations and referral offers
- We do not offer a free trial at normal checkout — the free plan lets you try EducationPals first.
- Some invitations include a free trial of a course (usually 14 days). It needs no card, ends on its own if you do not add one, and is for new subscribers only.
- If a friend referred you, you get 20% off your first month. The friend's reward (free days) is given once your first payment is 14 days old.
- An offer applies only as described when it is made, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be combined with another offer unless we say so.
8. Price changes
We may change our prices. If a change affects your existing subscription, we will tell you by email before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then. Early-bird prices are protected as section 2 describes.
